Music is a huge part of my life. I have been singing as long as I’ve been talking. Music is also a big part of my family’s life. We sing, we dance, we play instruments… I’m not saying that we do these things well… but we do them!
When I look back at my parents, my grandparents, even my great-grandparents, they all had a song. My parents have a song, Billy Joel’s “Just the Way You Are”. My grandparents on my dad’s side was “Memory” (from Cats). My grandparents on my mom’s side was “I’ll Keep on Lovin’ You”. My great-grandparents’ song was “Stardust”. And I have copies of each of those pieces!
When I moved into my house, I was trying to find stuff to hang on the walls. But I don’t tend to just buy random art. I want something that means something to me (yup, I’m a sentimental type). Then I came across all of this sheet music and it gave me an idea…
I purchased “floating frames” for each of them, framed them and hung them. Now my “art” is also a reminder of all of the love in my family!
Have you ever turned a family memento into a piece of art?
