No I’m not talking about the movie, I’m talking about my jewelry!!!
I went to get dressed up to go to a wedding the other day and I was appalled at how tangled my jewelry was! (ok, time to fess up… I probably wouldn’t have even noticed, but a friend was over, and SHE was appalled… which of course made me open my eyes and see how bad it had really gotten… gotta love a good friend like that!)
But what to do? My necklaces and bracelets seem to spend their spare time playing twister in the drawer… I couldn’t get them this knotted if I tried!…
(did anyone else catch the cord to my headphones somehow tangled in the mix?)
oh yeah, back to fixing the problem… I started by scanning Pinterest for ideas. (love that site!)…. but didnt really find anything that fit my needs… I’m in an apartment… and I dont have a walk in closet… so I dont want to cover my wall with hooks…
But I do have 3 of these frames that I found at a garage sale a few months ago…
And so the project began… I started by taking the existing (faded and worn) artwork out of the frames. Then I found some cork contact paper that I had left over from another project… I traced the backboard onto the contact paper, cut it out and adhered it to the backboard.
At the end of this project I realized that this cork contact paper was not actually thick enough to use a real push pin on…
So I purchased some squares of thicker cork (I found it at my local Staples) and placed those inside the frames.
Of course, during all of this I decided that if I was going to make these, then they should be fun…. Break out the spray paint!!!
(the 3rd one is blue! I just forgot to get a picture… )
A few pushpins later and my necklaces and bracelets can be easily organized.
How do you keep your jewelry from becoming a tangled mess?
